The
following are the missions flown by Richard Vanden Heuvel,
Tail Gunner.
Richard
cites "From June 26 (Bail Out) to August 1 (Mission
7) I did not fly any missions. I was aboard the submarine
USS Pintado - later USS Tigron for transportation back
to Guam. We were on the Sub's for 7 days and at Rest Camp
for 10 days. In the interm Crew 18 continued to fly missions.
The entire crew (Crew 13),
plus Group Commander Colonel George
W. Mundy, who accompanied us on Mission 6 was rescued.
I was told that this was the first time in B-29 history
that an entire combat crew survived."
