The "City of Cleveland, Ohio" is one of the few crews to be in the "Comics." A "One-plane Air Force" is what Sparkler Comics called the men of "Experiment Perilous." P-49 would fly 18 missions but would be remembered for that night air fire raid on Tokyo April 16.

Updates:

20 April 2011: Added McDowell to Crew 49 Honor Roll - Our web site received an email from Jovona Payne, notifying us that her Uncle took his Final Flight. His name has also been added to the Final Flight Honor Roll section

20 Jan 2011: Added Winstead to Crew 49 Honor Roll - A search of the SSDI has resulted in finding the name Edgar E. Winstead SS# issued from Mississippi with Year of Birth 1924; WWII Enlistment Record for Sgt Edgar E. Winstead shows his county & state of residence at that time was Newton County, Mississippi and his Yr of Birth as 1924. It's believed Winstead listed in the SSDI is Sgt Edgar E. Winstead, CFC Gunner from Union, Newton County, Mississippi.

No information is available on: Houston T. Putney, Left Gunner.

19 Jan 2011:
Added Gilford to Crew Honor Roll - An internet search of the Social Security Death Index resulted in finding the name Charles B. Gilford; a search via Google resulted in finding an obitaury for Charles Bernard (C.B.) Gilford of Prairie Village, KS; born and raised in Kansas City, Mo.; served as a Navigator on a B-29 in the Pacific Theater; The 62nd Squadron Roster dated 29 Sep 1945 shows 1st Lt Charles B. Gilford listing his "Address of Record" as Kansas City, MO. In June 2010, we received an email from the grandson of Charles B. Gilford notifying us that he lives just outside of Kansas City, KS. Given this similarity its believed Charles Bernard (C.B) Gilford and 1st Charles B. Gilford are the same person and as such has been added to the Crew 49 Honor Roll and the Final Flight Honor Roll section of our web site.

13 Dec 2010: Search of the Social Security Death Index has resulted in finding the name of Robert L. Pratt from Norwell, MA. Our records show S/Sgt Robert L. Pratt was from Norwell, MA. - therefore he has been added to the Crew 49 Honor Roll as well Final Flight Honor Roll section of this web site.
