Cpl Louis Montuori
Camera Technician

Taken Salina, Kansas - 1944

After completing basic training at Keesler Field, Biloxi, Mississippi. Montuori attended photo school for 13 weeks at Lowery Field, Denver, CO, where upon graduation, he acquired the rating of Camera Technician. Having spent several years in photography trade before entering the service, this was the logical assignment for Louis.

He spent some time at Dyersburg AAF in Tennessee and then moved on to Dalhart AAF, Texas, where he joined the 60th Squadron of the 39th Bomb Group.

Through the extremes of heat and cold at Smoky Hill AAF, Salina, Kansas, Montuori's section installed cameras in the B-29s training for combat.

After the "cruise" on the USS Howell Lykes, his job on Guam was a continuation of that back at Smoky Hill.

After receiving his discharge on February 1946, Montuori decided to stay in the photography field. Eventually, he and his wife established a business, which supplied color photography to the TV network and advertising agencies in the New York City area.

Both have been retired since 1979 and have relocated to St. Petersburg Beach, Florida. He is hopefully of attending a 39th Bomb Group reunion at such time it is held closer to home.
