As told in Crew 7's history, the crew returned from Lead Crew School with "City of Laredo" with their next mission (their 8th) being on 24 July 1945 - Nakajima Aircraft Plant- Handa. From this mission through their 15th mission - "Show of Force" VJ DAY - 2 September 1945 - Signing of Japanese Surrender aboard the USS Missouri. The "City of Laredo" was their taking her crew on their combat missions and more importantly, bringing this crew home again. She served them well.


According to records the B-29A, s/n 44-61795, was manufactured by Boeing Aircraft, Renton WA, and delivered to the USAF on 5 Jun 1945. It went to the Birmingham Modification Center AL on 8 Jun 1945, via Walla Walla WA, Las Vegas NV, and Tulsa OK. It departed Birmingham on 30 Jun 1945 and was assigned to the Second Air Force, Herrington AAF KS. It departed the US on 19 Jul 1945 for the 20th Air Force, via Fairfield AAF CA. It returned to the US, via Fairfield AAF, on 26 Mar 1946 and was placed in storage at the Ogden Air Materiel Center, Hill AAF UT on 30 Apr 1946. It remained in storage until 17 Nov 1953, when it was disposed as surplus.
