Burton B. Moyer, Jr. was born in Chicago May 24, 1917. Completing elementary and secondary schooling, he went on to the University of Chicago, from which he graduated in 1939 with a B.A. degree in Political Science.

First Lieutenant Burton B. Moyer, Jr. was the first I&E officer in the wing to launch an afternoon study group consisting of twenty-two courses taught by twelve officers and sixteen enlisted men.

He ran the Vocational Guidance Clinic that helped match those interested in the courses who desired a higher institution of learning and vocational requirements veterans needed for jobs upon return to civilian life.

In 1940, Lieutenant Moyer, became staff member of the Civilian Service Commission’s Board of Investigation and in 1942 moved over to the Farm Credit Administration, where he worked as a Position Classification Investigator until called to service in October of that year. Acting first as a reception center interviewer and then as a personnel sergeant major, he entered the Army Administration OCS in May 1943 and received his commission in July. From his first assignment at Marietta (GA.) air base, he went to Harvard, Nebraska and in December 1944 was assigned to the 39th Bomb Group as assistant I&E officer. He became group I&E officer in May 1945.

He married Charlotte Elizabeth Seipz.

Following WWII, Burton, received an M.A. in public administration from American University. He began a career in federal service and by his 1971 retirement was responsible for banking services at overseas military bases.

A generous contributor to volunteer agencies, he was strong civil-rights advocate.

Lieutenant Burton B. Moyer, Jr. took his final flight on 17 May 2003, at the age of 85 yrs in Alexandria City, VA.

He is interned at Arlington National Cemetery.
