Prior to war’s end, the activities of the I&E section consisted of the following:
A prepared newscast broadcast nightly in the movie area. |
A weekly Information Period likewise held in the theater area. |
A War Information Center where were (sp) displayed situation maps, strike photos, and news items of significance. |
A weekly newspaper, The Blockbuster, concerned with group activities and aimed to supplement, rather than replace, The Pacific Courant published by Army Garrison-Force. |
Since August 14 (1945), however, this section under the leadership of Lieutenant Burton B. Moyer, Jr., has become one of the most active in the group. Afternoon study group classes in twenty-two subjects had been inaugurated; the subjects offered being those surveyed showed to be of greatest interest to members of the group, and ones teachers and text were available.
The teaching staff comprised of twelve officers and sixteen enlisted men who volunteered their services.

To help the perspective student to select his courses intelligently and hence to make most effective use of the schools opportunities, two enlisted men under Lt. Moyer’s supervision ran a Vocational Guidance Clinic. The clinic was well informed on the scholastic requirements which obtained for those who desire to go to institutions of higher learning, and also well informed of the vocational requirements for the job which the inquirer may have desired to obtain when he returned to civil life. The clinic also gave competent and pertinent information on the veteran’s rights under the GI Bill.
