Gerald P. Galfo was born in March of 1924, in Angola, NY.
He was married to Florence and to this union came 2 daughters, 1 son and 8 grandchildren.
Gerald was inducted on 11 Feb 1943, entering into the service on week later at Ft. Niagara, NY. He serviced a total of 2 years, 9 months, 19 days. Gerald departed for overseas service on 17 Jan 1945 arriving in the pacific on 18 Feb 1945 – 2 Years to the date became active duty. After servicing 7 months and 23 days he departed the Pacific Theater on 5 Sept 1945 returning to the USA 4 days later on 9 September 1945 and was discharged on 6 December 1945 at ORD Greensboro, NC.
During his service he earned the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 2 service stars (Air Offensive Japan, Western Pacific), the American Theater Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal.
Gerald was a 50-yr member of the Newcomb-Long American Legion Post.
