A ninth generation Floridian, Grady was born in Wauchula, FL in 1918. His family moved to Ft. Lauderdale during his childhood. A 1936 graduate of Ft. Lauderdale High School, he recently attended his 79th Class Reunion where he was acknowledged as the oldest surviving alum.
After returning from the war, Grady's family moved to Pompano Beach where he met Sadie McNab. They married in 1946.
They were married for 61 yrs until Sadie's passing. They have 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
As President of the Singleton Company, Grady worked at the Pompano State Farmers' Market for 70 years as a winter vegetable broker.
Grady is the oldest surviving continuous member of Pompano's First United Methodist Church where he serves as the Chairman of the Building Committee for the Sanctuary and on the Financial Advisory Board. Grady is honored to serve on the Board of Directors for Pine Crest School and First National Banks of Pompano, Margate, and Lighthouse Point.
He is a Charter member of Pompano's American Legion Chapter, Pompano's VOFW, and Pompano Elks Club. He is a proud member of the 40&8 Veterans Organization, Florida Council of 100, the Shrine, the Royal Order of Jesters, and is a 32nd Degree Mason.
He is recognized as a Kentucky Colonel and as a Pioneer by the Broward County Historical Society.
