He was the son of the late Harry Robert Furlong, Cleveland OH; and Marye Elizabeth Herold-Furlong, McKeesport PA. He leaves behind one older brother; Harold Werder Furlong, Lakewood CO, and joins his younger sister who passed on before him; Mary Elizabeth Furlong, McKeesport PA. Harry was the husband of Dessie Jeanne Wilson-Furlong of Hutchinson KS. Five children were born to them. They are; Buffy Marie Nodal, Euless TX; Marie Elizabeth Bird, Hurst TX; Harry Logan Furlong, Jr. and David William Furlong, Riverside CA; and Kathyloo Furlong, Deming NM.

Harry Logan Furlong, Sr. died in his 70th year of pancreatic cancer, which caused gastro intestinal bleeding, and a cardiac arrest. He also suffered with emphysema and coronary artery disease for many years. At the Riverside Community Hospital. His in-laws, Rev. and Mrs. Salvador and Rose Nodal, who were able to share the plan of salvation and lead him to Christ before his last hours here on earth, visited him. He died with his wife at his side, and a warm smile on his face.

His body was lovingly blanketed with an American Flag by his two sons, cremated and laid to rest at the Riverside Nat'l Cemetery, Riverside, CA. (Grave 503, sec. 14-A).

Our father had a very keen mind, and his friends all enjoyed his sense of humor. He was a great crooner and whistler and could play a mean mouth harp. He loved to work with his hands. He was an auto mechanic for many years before retiring. Then he was an antique storeowner. And in his last years he loved to spend hours on his CB radio and piddle with wood creations out of his garage. He fashioned special corner knickknack shelves that are cherished gifts of loved ones left behind.

We wish that we had asked more about our father's experiences in service to his country during WWII.

We miss you Daddy, and a wait the day when we will be able to see you again!

If anyone that may have known Harry during his WWII service and can share about their experiences please contact updates@39th.org
