Born May 5, 1921 in Canton, Ohio. Enlisted in Army Air Corps August 10, 1939 after graduating from high school.
Completed Airplane and Engine Mechanic School at Parks Air College, E St. Louis, IL. Worked on the line as Crew Chief, Flight Chief and Line Chief.
Attended B-29 Flight Engineer School at Seattle (Boeing Aircraft). After completing B-29 Flight Engineering Training at Lowery Field, was assigned to 62nd Bomb Squadron, 39th Bomb Group at Smoky Hill.
Deployed to Guam and saw combat over Japan with Gene Flewellen Crew (Crew 49).
Received Flight Officer appointment from M/Sgt while assigned to the 39th BG.
Separated from service on October 18, 1945 and received 2nd Lt. Commission.
While in civilian life, worked in the steel mill for 3 years and also owned and operated a night club.
Recalled to active duty on October 10, 1950 and assigned to McDill AFB as Squadron Engineer and Maintenance Officer (B-29).
Transferred to Carswell, AFB, TX in September 1951 and assigned to a B-36 crew as Flight Engineer. While at Carswell, married present wife Hazel in July 1952 in Canton, Ohio. Two Children, John and Jo Ann.
In 1956, went to Navigator and Radar Bombardier Training. After completing I was assigned to a B-52 crew and completed B-52 Combat Crew Training and assigned to Bergstrom AFB, TX.
Transferred to 22nd Bomb Wing, March AFB, CA. in 1966 and was Head of Photo Interpretation and Intelligence Section.
Deployed to Guam (Again!) in 1968 and participated in Arc Light (B52s) against Vietnam.
Retired from the Air Force August 1968 as a Major at March AFB.
Went to work for Texas Employment Commission in April 1969 and became Supervisor for Unemployment Insurance.
Retired from State of Texas in February 1987. Enjoying total retirement and playing golf with former crew members.
