Cpl Ernest T. Salo
Mechanic

Ernest T. Salo was born in Butte Montana March 14, 1917.

According to WWII Enlistment Records Mr. Salo entered the service Feb 26, 1942 from Ft. Lewis Washington. Paul Godwin, 60th BS, states that Ernest served as part of P-14's ground crew as a mechanic.

Ernest fished in Alaska before serving in WWII. After the war, he was a steam operator at a plywood plant in Everett, WA.

He was a member of the American Legion, Eagles, Sons of Norway, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.



27 Dec 2005:

Paul Godwin, who initally told us of Ernest Salo, notified us that he just received a letter from a Mrs. Ruth Walker, Washingon State saying that Ernest "Toi" Salo took his final flight 14 October 2005. He was cremated and lies at Washelli Cemetery in Seattle, WA.
