Founder/President 39th Bomb Group (VH) Association

Dear 39ers and Families:
It is with
profound grief and sadness I announce the passing on 4 October 2006
of our beloved President James W. Wyckoff who has guided our destiny
for 17 years. He fought a valiant battle since May, after surgery and
series of setbacks. Our hearts go out to Betty and the family for their
loss.
Having served with Jim on the same crew on many missions, I can tell
you that he did his job with skill and dedication, and was a wonderful
friend for so many years.
When you take the measure of a man, what more need be said?
We all know Jim’s dedication and service to our Association and to the preservation of the “39th Bomb Group (VH)” over the many years since organizing our first reunion. In the last several years, Jim enjoyed seeing the younger generation attend our reunions and get involved in our Association as he knew it would be them to whom the torch would be passed. Therefore in keeping with his commitment, the Officers of the Association have formed a reunion committee that will research locations and plan the 2007 reunion.
Elizabeth Chatfield, the Wyckoff's granddaughter, has informed us that calling hours Sunday 2-4p and 7-9pm at Covert Funeral Home, Ovid, NY. The Funeral is Monday at 10am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ovid, NY. Burial will be in Ovid, NY.
