I received a call from Beth Chatfield that her grandmother, Betty, passed away March 11, 2010. She had been battling cancer since 2007.

Calling hours are Monday 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Covert Funeral Home, Ovid, NY.  The Funeral is Tuesday at 10am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ovid, NY. Burial will be in Ovid, NY. In lieu of flowers the family has ask that you consider a donations be made to the South Seneca Ambulance, PO Box 280, Ovid, NY. 14521 or the American Cancer Society, 1400 Winton Road North, Suite 1, Rochester, NY 14609.

Betty was born in Rochester on February 19, 1929, the only daughter of the late Charles and Ada (Rymell) Kinne. She was a lifetime resident of Hayts Corners, and a graduate of the Ovid Central School.  She had worked at Willard State Hospital as an attendant, the Ovid Central School as a member of the cafeteria staff, and had been elected as the tax collector for the Town of Romulus for 36 years.

She was a faithful communicant of Holy Cross Catholic Church, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of both the Ovid VFW Post #6200 and the American Legion Post #463.  She had enjoyed bowling and travelling with her husband to the reunions of the 39th Bomb Group, his military unit, of which she served as the chaplain. In recent years she enjoyed the fellowship of the women’s Bible study of the Ovid Federated Church.

Betty is survived by her children, Denny (Sue) Wyckoff of Canandaigua, James (Jodie) Wyckoff of Stittville, NY, William (Joanne) Wyckoff of Garden Ridge, TX and Linda Wyckoff of Virginia Beach, VA, 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Wyckoff, a daughter, Suzann Wech and a grandson, Benjamin Wyckoff.
