20th AAF Insignia 1945
S/Sgt Marvin Rodich
Crew Chief, Crew 59

20 July 2010

I received an email from Rodich Family notifying us of that Marvin J. Rodich has taken his Final Flight.

Marvin & his wife Emily attended reunions from 1998 thru 2004. Prior to the 2005 Reunion, Emily notified us that they would no longer be able to attend the reunions as Marvin had developed Alzheimer's and the doctor recommended limited exposurer to "new" surroundings. On March 13, 2010 I received notice that Emily had passed away. (Click here to view notice)

I have transcribed the Rodich Family's letter regarding their father, Marvin below:

--------------------------------------------------
Our Dear Relatives and Friends,

We would like to let everyone know about the events of recent at the Rodich home.  Some of you already know that Marv has Alzheimers disease. Still living at home, a few weeks ago he became unbalanced and could hardly stand. He went He went to the hospital where an infection was diagnosed. They treated it, and from there Marv went to the Apple Valley Augustana Health Care Center, where he received therapy and planned for an extended stay. The staff is very qualified and caring, and Dad seemed quite happy there. But, he suffered another infection that was then complicated by pneumonia, and was very weak. Marv passed away early Wednesday morning (July 14), at the age of 89. Only four months after Mom’s death, it is comforting to know that they are together again.

We must apologize for sending such sad and emotional news via an email. While it is not the most appropriate means, we wanted everyone to know as soon as possible, and be assured that it truly comes from the heart.

Marv had requested cremation.  There is no wake, but a memorial service will be held July 28,
at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 4030 Pilot Knob Road, across the street from the Rodich home.
A gathering will begin at 10:00 am.
A memorial Mass is at 11:00 am. and then a luncheon and visiting until 3 pm.

Preferring no flowers, the family will gratefully make donations to the Church and Marv's charities, including the Spinal Cord Society.

You are welcome to pass this whole message along to others.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you plan to attend, will not attend, are unsure, or if your  plans change.  This way we will know that you have been informed, and will help us with luncheon arrangements.
